Teaching The Outsiders by S.E.Hinton

Yesterday when I found the background to my town on Wikipedia I was disappointed to see it described as a neighborhood struggling with the Main Street initiative.  The neighborhood has five new restaurants and a variety of new boutiques.

I changed the sentence about this neighborhood struggling and plan to check periodically to see if anyone edits this sentence.

I have been teaching The Outsiders by S.E. HInton for a few years now. It is probably the most accessible novel we teach in seventh grade and the most popular. I have a variety of material but I’m looking for new ideas. I would especially like something that would tap into technology and kids desire to talk about this book. Any suggestions from teachers out there?
